About Me In The Press
While I was held between 27 July 2016 and 18 March 2018, and after my release as well, a great many reports and articles appeared in the Turkish and foreign press about the injustice done to me. By a friend’s count, 812 reports and commentaries about me were published in the Swedish media alone during my imprisonment. They break down as follows:
- Reports on Ş.A. by the Swedish news agency TT, carried in 105 newspapers — 735 reports
- Dagens Nyheter — 28 articles
- Expressen — 12 articles
- Svenska Dagbladet — 18 articles
- Aftonbladet — 2 articles

During my days in Silivri Prison I could mostly reach what was written about me in Hürriyet and Cumhuriyet, the papers I subscribed to. Some of the pieces gathered here I was therefore able to read only after my release. Below you will find a selection of the writing that bore witness to the injustices suffered not only by me but by my colleagues, and that defended freedom of expression. The pieces are in Turkish, as they stand in my memoirs; the foreign-press selection appears there in Turkish translation.
